COLLECTIVE HAUL: Makeup, Skincare & Fragrance

Wednesday, 26 March 2014

So, I don't know how this happened. Retail therapy, a little reward and the majority of Superdrug's stock being on offer somehow turned into this explosion of products, which has caused a tiny dent in my student budget. Oops. But oviously, you're here for the good stuff so let's go!
I am in love with the formula of this foundation, it really is perfect. It's medium to full coverage and dries to an "almost matte" finish, so I don't need any setting powder at all and on good skin days I can go without concealer. It's seriously my holy grail foundation. I've noticed that this line of foundation has a nasty habit of drying - not oxidising, just drying - to a shade that's literally 2-3, if not more, shades darker than what's in the bottle. So after months of unknowingly embarrassing myself by wearing the shade Walnut, which is so dark, and then a few more months of not being able to part with the £14.50 that it costs - I'm a student, don't judge me - I finally purchased this and I'm excited to see how it goes!

I love these Color Tattoos and usually wear them as eye liner to add a pop of colour to a very boring, basic, brown eye shadow look, and I think this will look amazing on the upper lash line, especially now we're on our way into spring. This is now the third Color Tattoo I own and I'm really excited to make some killer winged eye liner with it!

Barry M  Waterproof Gel Liner in White
Here's another eye liner product, but this time from Barry M. I'm obsessed with the whole art deco, monochrome eyeliner look, but I haven't had anything to try and recreate the look with! So I finally parted with a pretty steep, in my opinion, £5.49 to purchase this guy. I hope it's worth the money!

Seventeen Rock Hard Couture Nail Effects in Celestial Pearl.
Okay let me break it to you, I've used this already and I hate it. It looks like sparkly cottage cheese! It's lumpy, uneven an disgusting. One coat takes forever to dry, even with the Elegant Touch Rapid Dry sprayed on top, it doesn't dry. I'm so disappointed because I've had my eye on this for a while too. Boo.

I think this is Barry M's answer to the Liquid Sand trend that Seventeen also tried to capture with their Rock Hard Couture Effects pictured above, but this is the most beautiful, multi-dimensional nail varnish I have ever seen. Unfortunately I could only capture a handful of the different shades of glitter in this bad boy, but trust me this picture does not give this polish any justice at all. In person, Countess is more of a purple based polish with various gold, red and brown reflective glitters.

Look Beauty Nail Pop in Sequin Effect
I've mentioned this brand a few times in old posts which you can find here (link) (link), but basically this is the makeup brand of Look Magazine which has unfortunately been discontinued. Because of this all the Look Beauty products, which I have only found at Superdrug, are currently half price. As I already have everything I wanted to try from this brand I only picked up this cutie, which is a clear top coat with iridescent glitters. This looks gorgeous over warmed-toned nail varnishes such as reds and oranges, let me tell you!

I swear the entirety of Superdrug was on offer the day I went in, as this bad boy was also half price. A friend of mine tried this a while ago and told me how amazing it was so I'm glad I've finally got my hands on it! I've used it a few times and so far so good!

Again, this was half price in Superdrug. Truth be told; I've never bought an eye make up remover, I always go in with a make up wipe and then let bygones be bygones, but as I'm trying to up my skincare routine I'm going to try to get used to cleansing properly and removing my eye make up properly. I think that's how it's supposed to be done anyway. Either way, this is definitely a step in the right direction so hopefully I will see improvements soon!

Let's ignore my dodgy photography, even though I kind of like that it's off kilter, lol. This body mist smells, so fucking good. I hate any type of floral scent, but I think the "flower" aspect of this makes it a lighter scent that is sweet but not sickly. If anyone is familiar with the other vanilla body mist that The Body Shop makes, this is the sweeter and lighter version of that. I feel as like the other vanilla one can come across a little like air freshener sometimes because of how heavy it is. Whilst this is a lighter fragrance than most vanilla scents I have come across, this is by far the sweetest and the creamiest. But I love that it literally smells like sweets, or vanilla candy floss. It's just delicious.

Wow, that was a lot of stuff!
