Review: Maybelline Fit Me Foundation

Thursday 24 January 2013
A long, long time ago I blogged about Maybelline giving away free sample of the foundation from the highly anticipated Fit Me range. After lots of bitching to no one about how long the delivery was taking, I ended up with two samples! (Im)patience is a virtue and all that ;)

Hauled It!

Friday 18 January 2013
It's actually been a while since I've done any kind of hauling. Little shopping expeditions not withstanding.
However, I was prowling webpages last night, just looking for a simple blackhead eliminating magic potion, because I aim high, and discovered that virtually everything is on some kind of offer in both Boots and Superdrug. Crikey.
I really wanted some products from the Good Thing brand, but both Superdrug and Boots let me down :/
However I did pick up a few exciting things :)

I ❤ Matte

Wednesday 16 January 2013
Recently I've been seriously wanting matte nail varnish without having to splurge on every single colour of the rainbow in a matte finish when I already have so much nail varnish.

Of course, Rimmel had the answer to all my problems.

The Professional Matte Finish Mattifying Topcoat is exactly what it says on the tin.
A handy little topcoat as which is usable as an alternative to glossy nail varnish.
I already have 30-40 bottles of nail varnish already, and with just this one bottle a whole array of colours, finishes and designs have become available to me.

As pictured, I've layered the polish over a dark, metallic grey and it is clear that the topcoat adds an element of frostiness to the polish, and there is definitely no gloss and no shine.

On the bottle it says the finish lasts up to 10 days, though I've not yet had the pleasure of experiencing this. With 2 coats, the matte finish lasts me approximately 6 days, and that's with average showering & washing up.

It retails at £4.59 in both Superdrug and Boots.
If you find it any cheaper, lucky you, but either way I think it's worth every penny!

Christmas Cupcake Tartlet Review

Wednesday 2 January 2013
I know, it's not even Tuesday!
But I finally gots myself an oil burner, so I thought I'd whack my Christmas Cupcake Yankee Candle wax tart in there and give it a sniff!
How cute is that burner!
Yankee Candle tarts are famous for crumbling really easily - or should that be notorious? They can make such a mess!
But they smell really good, so I can kinda get over that.
In the packaging, Christmas Cupcake smells like vanilla cake and butter cream, but melting/burning it smells really soapy. It's starts of smelling like a vanilla dream, but then this soapiness comes out of nowhere. Maybe it's the "Frosty Christmas" element that Yankee Candle famously add to many of their Christmas Candles, offering us wax that smells like toilet cleaner! Never mind!

These little tarts are only £1.25 and last long enough. I burn/melt little pieces periodically throughout the day to keep my room fresh. That tiny chunk that I've put on has been burning for about an hour, and is still going, and the fragrance will linger for about an hour or two after the oil has evaporated.

This tart smell reasonably good, though it does have a soapy smell to it that I'm not 100% keen on, but that's just my personal taste!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
I bid 2012 adieu and welcomed 2013 in style & managed to lose my voice in the process!
I'd say that's a sign of a good night ;)
But holy smokes, it's January again!
I'm really excited to grab life by the balls this year, and get loads of out it.
And in order to make sure I do that...

New Years Resolutions 2013!
1. Travel more.
I travel a lot between home and uni, but I've lived in England for 19 years, and I've barely seen any of the country. I'd love to spend more time in places like London and Manchester, as well as the other countries in the UK.
2. Work & Save
I've coupled these two together as whilst it's all good and well working, I'm not gonna get anywhere if I don't save meticulously. I really want to work in beauty retail, but we'll see.

That's all really. I don't have many because I'm not really one of those "lose weight/eat healthy" types, nor do I have loads of changes that I need to make. I'm lucky; I'm pretty content.
Though, of course this post wouldn't be complete without some;

Beauty Resolutions!
1. Wash my brushes more often.
Seriously, I've gotten in to a really bad habit of not washing them often enough and it's getting crazy.
2. Stop buying eye shadow & nail varnish.
Honestly, every other product is fine, but I have an unhealthy addiction to these two. It's always; "Ooh, I haven't got one that's quite the same shade." No, Janelle. Stop. I might do a 100 days spending ban on these.
3. Be less lazy with skincare.
I have combination/oily skin and I bitch about my oil-slick of a t-zone all the time, but I don't really do anything about it. It's time to change that!

Again, short, simple and achievable!
At the end of the year I'll go back to this and see how many of them I actually keep up :P
If you have a post similar to this, link it the comments section; I'd love to read your resolutions!
